Josette Williams is the Founder, Identity Architect, and Identity Infrastructure Innovator of Emhergence, a sovereign identity infrastructure company building Living Identity OS (formerly the Distributed Identity Engine). Her work lives where identity design meets AI architecture: she builds the infrastructure that lets a person own, govern, and license their own identity rather than surrender it to aggregated systems.
Through her framework, The New Feminine Economies, Williams names and builds Identity Economies — her own coinage — distinct from the established academic field of Identity Economics advanced by George Akerlof and Rachel Kranton and popularized through the relational work of Esther Perel. Where that field studies how identity shapes economic behavior, Williams's work builds the infrastructure through which women architect and own their identity as economic leverage in the AI economy.
She is the originator of a connected body of proprietary frameworks developed under Emhergence, including Self-Licensing and the Self-License Token (SLT), the Living Identity Mirror (LIM), State Before Step, and Aesthetic Sovereignty — each a working component of sovereign identity infrastructure rather than a standalone idea.
Williams brings 35 years of identity design experience (1991–2026, and ongoing) to this build, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education (Kinesiology), and has worked in AI since 2023. Her earlier ventures include AI Tools Curator, which reached more than 89,000 users across 47 countries. She is an edge-walker who lands as embodied — equal parts soulful and strategic, comfortable in the spaces no one has named yet — building alongside the women shaping their place in the emerging AI economy.
